End of the year thanks…

A successful school year does not happen by accident. It takes many people working very hard in order for our students to have the best possible learning environment. Before we close the books on the 2014 – 2015 school year, I want to thank the many people who contribute to the numerous achievements of our students and our district.

First, I want to thank our staff members. Each and every one of these people comes to work every day with our students and what they can do to help them learn foremost in their mind. They transport our students safely to and from school. They make sure our offices are efficiently run. They work to ensure our buildings and grounds are clean and safe. They serve nutritious meals. They provide assistance to our teaching staff. They work with, and teach our students. Working together, our staff members make sure each student that enters our doors receives a first rate education.

I want to thank the families of our students. You are always there to support the education of your children. You check backpacks and folders for important notices. You make sure homework is completed, help with spelling words, and assist with science projects. You attend conferences and after school activities. You are the people that make sure your children come to school every day ready to learn.

I want to thank our volunteers. Every time I visit one of our schools, I see many parents and community volunteers taking time out of their day in order to work with students and assist our staff. You read books, practice new vocabulary words, and assist with math facts all to make sure our students learn the skills necessary to be successful. Our staff will tell you that there are many projects and activities that wouldn’t be possible without your help. You give unselfishly of your time and make a significant contribution to the education of our community’s children.

I want to thank our community. Our students attend new schools because of your support. You work with our staff to provide opportunities to our students such as career day and other special programs. You provide our students with donated school supplies and other needed items. You attend school presentations, sporting events, and concerts to show your support to the youth in our community.

I want to thank our Board of Education. Your careful review of the policies that govern our district help our students receive the best possible education. You provide a community perspective to our educational system through your insightful questions and comments. Not only do you attend meetings, you also give of your own time to attend school presentations, award ceremonies, and school activities.

Lastly, I want to thank our students. You proudly represent our district and our community on the playing field and in academic endeavors. You work hard every day in our classrooms to learn what you need to learn. You make us proud to be a part of the Huber Heights community.

Our students are fortunate to have such a strong and committed team behind them. Thank you for all you do for our students and our school district. After all your hard work, I hope each of you has a safe and restful summer. The beginning of the 2015 – 2016 school year will soon be here!
