BEAVERCREEK —Host Beavercreek made Wayne its fifth straight shut out victim Tuesday night. The Beavers blanked Wayne 2-0 as all of their shut outs have been by either a 1-0 or 2-0 margin. Beavercreek remains undefeated at 6-0 while Wayne fell to 3-3-1.
Beavercreek outshot Wayne 10-5 as senior goalie Nate Strong had five saves in the Greater Western Ohio Conference Central Division opener.
Beavercreek constructed a 2-0 halftime advantage. Their first goal came with nine minutes elapsed on a corner kick by Jake Taylor that, according to Wayne Coach Dennis Snider, was misplayed by Wayne. The second was on a free kick from 20 yards by Jordan Morales with 12 minutes elapsed.
“We played pretty good,” said Snider. “Our effort was there. I think we played hard the whole game and during the run of play, the normal play of the game, it was pretty even. But they scored on two set plays which hurt us.”
Wayne hosts CJ at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday in which Snider said he expects “another battle.”
“It should be a pretty even match,” he said.
Wayne will travel to Northmont at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
