On Sunday, May 21, our community will celebrate a very important event. The Wayne High School Class of 2017 will officially become the newest alumni of Huber Heights. Graduation is a very special day for students, families, and staff members as we celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2017.
Our students have been working very hard the past four years and while graduation is a celebration of the end of high school, it is the beginning of new plans that will lead to advanced degrees and careers. More than ever, our students must have the knowledge and skills to make wise choices about their future after high school. With this in mind, our students begin to prepare for their future after high school as early as their freshman year of high school. Courses are targeted to preparing students for college and career readiness. This means upon graduation, students are ready to successfully enter the workforce or military, or continue their education at a two-year, four-year, or technical college.
Each year, I look forward to the graduation ceremony as a time to celebrate the accomplishments of our students with our staff and community. There is no doubt that the Wayne High School Class of 2017 is an exceptional group of young people. I am sure the graduation ceremony will reflect their special and unique talents. I invite our community members to attend the graduation ceremony on Sunday, May 21, 2017, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Wright State University’s E.J. Nutter Center. As always, if you have questions about our schools, please contact me at the Administrative Offices (237-6300) or through e-mail at Susan.Gunnell@huberheightscityschools.org.
