5K, Rib Fest and Hall of Fame…

Did you know National Night Out will be held in Huber Heights on August 4 from 6-9 p.m.?

This year our Police Department has decided to take the Night Out to the public rather than have the public come to them as in the past. Three locations have been chosen: Wright Brothers Elementary, Monticello Elementary and Charles Huber Elementary Schools. This will be like a “block party” where you can meet your neighbors and enjoy the evening. The Police Division, the Fire Department and Public Works will drive to each school with a caravan of vehicles to meet with people and help celebrate National Night Out. Bring the family to the school closest to your home and help participate in this national evening.

Did you know the Wayne Marching band and Warriorettes are sponsoring a fund raiser you may be interested in?

The original stencil of the Warrior Heads are being sold to be printed on your driveway. The cost is $35. The band and Warriorettes are raising funds by painting these Warrior heads on driveways in Huber Heights in order to perform at Disneyland in March. To order yours, you can email Wayne Music Club at waynewarriorheads@gmail.com. Be sure to include your name, address and phone number. They will get in touch with you to schedule a time to get your very own Warrior head. This Warrior head will identify you as a Wayne supporter for sure!

Did you know I was out of town last week and apparently missed a number of very successful activities in our city?

I understand the EWP 5K run was very successful. Apparently the Rib Fest was enjoyed by many, many folks and was a resounding success for it’s very first year. Sure sorry I missed those ribs, which are my favorite!

I also want to congratulate all that were inducted into the Wayne Athletic Hall of Fame. As much as I love sports, I am really sorry to have missed this event. Congratulations to all who were honored…and believe me folks, it is an honor! I am so proud of all the folks who took charge and helped make these activities so successful. None of them could be done without all the volunteers who work together to make them happen. Thank you to all you organizers and helpers!
