An important aspect of early learning and quality preschool programs is collaboration between the local school district and area preschool providers. In Huber Heights, the Huber Heights Early Childhood Coalition (HHERC) works cooperatively with the Huber Heights City School District to ensure that the content and skills taught to children in our local preschool programs helps prepare them for success in our district’s kindergarten program. In addition to working closely with our school district, HHERC also works with preschool families to help them prepare their children for kindergarten.
An example of this collaboration can be seen on April 20, 2017, when the HERCC and the Huber Heights City Schools host a “Preschool Extravaganza” for preschool students and their families at the Wayne High School Cafeteria. This important event is free and open to all preschool children and their families living in the city of Huber Heights. Parents and children will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities that support the early childhood content standards adopted by the Ohio Department of Education. Parents will also receive materials and information to strengthen learning at home. The “Preschool Extravaganza” begins at 6:00 p.m. and concludes at 7:30 p.m.
Providing our community members and families with opportunities to learn more about topics related to children, families, and education is important to our school district. We will continue to work with our community partners and others to provide up-to-date and significant information to our community and families. We hope that many parents and children will be able attend the “Preschool Extravaganza” on April 20.
