Did you know the Huber Heights library will have a book swap on Saturday, July 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.?
You can bring up to 10 books to swap. Be sure any books you bring are clean without any ripped or missing pages. Any books not swapped will be donated to the book sale to be held later this year. One gently used book is your price of admission so start gathering up the ones you have read and plan to make a swap on Saturday.
Did you know the Young Marines have their new recruit orientation on Wednesday, July 29?
This unit serves the entire Miami Valley with boys and girls age eight to high school graduates. The actual boot camp starts Aug. 12. You will receive complete information and details at the orientation so parents need to come for the briefing.
This group is to help kids improve character and instill the desire to become life long productive citizens. Discipline and teamwork is what is taught; something sorely needed in our society today. There is no cost to come observe. Location is St. Peter’s Church basement, 6131 Chambersburg Road in Huber Heights at 5:45 p.m.
Did you know Sunday, Aug. 9 is Family Disc Golf Day in Huber Heights?
The city of Huber Heights and the Dayton Disc Golf Association will be there to introduce families to the basics of the game. Come between the hours of 3 to 5 p.m. and learn about the rules of the game, get tips on throwing techniques, then play a couple of holes for practice.
You will find the registration form on the city web site www.hhoh.org.
The first 50 kids (between the age of 6-14) to register will receive a complimentary disc to use during the event. Feel free to bring your own disc because there will be a limited number available.
You are asked to park at Studebaker Middle School, 5954 Longford Rd. Park behind the building, then look for the tent where sign in and instructions will take place. You are instructed NOT to drive to Community Park as there will be no parking available there.
If there are any residents that would like to volunteer their time to help set up, take down, chase discs or direct folks to the course, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. There is no charge for any of the day and all family members are welcome to come play.
Once you learn the rules of the game, it could be a great way to challenge the family to an afternoon in the park playing disc golf! Some of our residents are not aware there is a disc golf course in Community Park and we want everyone to know about it and how to play the game. Hope to see you there!
