HUBER HEIGHTS — The City of Huber Heights Fire Division annually kicks off Fire Prevention Week with our Open House. We invite you to attend our Open House at Station 22, 7008 Brandt Pike, on Sunday October 2, 2016 from 123:0pm to 3:30 pm.
2016 Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge
HUBER HEIGHTS — All boys and girls ages 9-14 are invited to participate in this year’s local level KofC Soccer Challenge. The local competition will be held Sunday, September 25th at 2:00 pm at the St. Peter Soccer Fields. This is a Penalty Kick (PK) competition where participants kick PK’s and get a score based on zones in the goal. Winners for each age can continue at District or Regional competitions then State competitions later in the Fall.

Senior Center Open House slated
HUBER HEIGHTS – The community is invited to the Huber Heights Senior Center’s 25th Anniversary Open House on Sunday, October 2, from 2-4 p.m. Enjoy music, refreshments, meeting others, and the chance to explore the senior center. The center is located at 6428 Chambersburg Road.
FISH Food Pantry seeks phone volunteers
HUBER HEIGHTS — The Huber Heights FISH Food Pantry is in desperate need of volunteers who live in Huber Heights to take phone calls. We have two people on any one day taking phone calls from home to help people wanting to make an appointment to come to the pantry. Time ranges from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays. Volunteers can work as little or as much as they would like, but generally take at least two mornings a month. We would like to continue to serve as many people as we can, but if we don’t get more volunteers, we may need to reduce our hours. Please call Jean Wallingford at 667-0276.
Parks and Rec Board meeting cancelled
HUBER HEIGHTS — The Parks and Recreation Board meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 6:30 P.M. has been cancelled due to a lack of a quorum of members attending the meeting. Author, motivational speaker to present
HUBER HEIGHTS — A Presentation by Richard Paul Evans, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author and world renowned motivational speaker, will be held Sunday, 25 September, 7:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 5750 Shull Road in Huber Heights, Ohio. The Presentation is open to the public. This is not a book signing event but attendees will likely have the opportunity to meet the author after the Presentation at a simple reception.
AARP tax aide volunteers needed
HUBER HEIGHTS — If you like working with numbers and helping people, the AARP Tax Aide program may be a good fit for you. Volunteers prepare taxes at the Vandalia and Huber Heights Senior Centers and at the Harrison Township Government Building. Square dance lessons offered in Huber Heights
HUBER HEIGHTS — Double H Squares offer square dance lessons beginning Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Sulphur Grove United Methodist Church Activity Center, 7505 Taylorsville Rd. Fee $3 per person. Lessons are for ages 10 and up. Casual attire is suggested and no experience is necessary. The instructor for the lessons is Bob Jones. Heights Farmer’s Market to hold food drive
HUBER HEIGHTS – The Heights Farmer’s Market and the Fish Food Pantry will be holding a summer-long food drive beginning Saturday, June 11 through October 29.
This event for Fish Food Pantry of Huber Heights all proceeds go toward the Pantry. We will have this food drive all summer long. Please bring non perishable food items and or personal hygiene products to The Heights Farmers Market on Saturdays from 9am to 1 pm or during the weekdays there will be drop off box inside The Heights Cafe.

Interactive MathAlive! exhibit coming to museum
Looking to avoid the “summer slide” with your school-age children? Make plans to check out the MathAlive! exhibit, an interactive traveling exhibit opening next month at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. The free 5,000-square-foot exhibit, which is underwritten by Raytheon, will be open at the museum July 23-Oct. 2. Forty immersive activities create fun experiences that bring to life the real math behind the things kids love most – video games, sports, design, music, entertainment, space and robotics.

Grief Ministry at Sulphur Grove
HUBER HEIGHTS – The Grief Ministry at Sulphur Grove United Methodist Church serves the purpose of standing alongside to support those who have encountered an indirect or significant loss in their lives. This ministry focuses on caring, loving, and encouraging each person through their grief journey. We have group meetings on the first and third Thursday of the month.
The next group meeting will be on Thursday, September 15th from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. This session is an open meeting (no topic) to support anyone wherever they are in their grief journey. All are welcome. This session will be held at the church (7505 Taylorsville Rd. Huber Heights, Oh 45424).
Starting October 6 our Grief Ministry team will be hosting the afternoon (1:30 p.m. -3:00 p.m.) grief sessions at the YMCA in Huber Heights. The evening (6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.) sessions will remain at the church.

Kiser High School Almuni Meetings
HUBER HEIGHTS — Kiser High School alumni meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month (except November and December) at the American Legion Post 200 which is at 5046 Nebraska Avenue, Huber Heights.
