Wayne to host 49th Half Time USA
HUBER HEIGHTS — The Wayne Music Club will host the 49th annual Half Time USA Band Festival on Saturday, Sept. 10. Gates open at 5:30, the Alumni Band will be performing from 6:00-6:30, parade of bands will start at 6:30 and the festival will start at 7:00. We have a big show planned this year so come on out and enjoy an evening of fun!!!! Advance tickets can be purchased at Wayne Sporting Goods or at the Wayne High School Bursar’s Office.
Huber Heights remembers 9/11
HUBER HEIGHTS — The City of Huber Heights will hold a rememberance ceremony on Sunday, September 11 beginning at 3 p.m. at the Wayne High School Performing Arts Center. The event will begin at 3 p.m. with a documentary viewing followed by a rememberance ceremony at 4 p.m. emceed by Jim Bucher and with a keynote speech by 9/11 responder and Huber Heights Fire Division Battalion Chief Michael Muhl. The rememberance will conclude with a 21 gun salute and a balloon launch.
The City of Huber Heights thanks its partners the Huber Heights Chamber of Commerce, Team Wright-patt, the Huber Heights Fire Division, Wayne High School, the Wayne High School Air Force Junior ROTC, and the Huber Heights Veterans Project.
Senior Center Open House slated
HUBER HEIGHTS – The community is invited to the Huber Heights Senior Center’s 25th Anniversary Open House on Sunday, October 2, from 2-4 p.m. Enjoy music, refreshments, meeting others, and the chance to explore the senior center. The center is located at 6428 Chambersburg Road.
FISH Food Pantry seeks phone volunteers
HUBER HEIGHTS — The Huber Heights FISH Food Pantry is in desperate need of volunteers who live in Huber Heights to take phone calls. We have two people on any one day taking phone calls from home to help people wanting to make an appointment to come to the pantry. Time ranges from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays. Volunteers can work as little or as much as they would like, but generally take at least two mornings a month. We would like to continue to serve as many people as we can, but if we don’t get more volunteers, we may need to reduce our hours. Please call Jean Wallingford at 667-0276.

HUBER HEIGHTS — A Presentation by Richard Paul Evans, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author and world renowned motivational speaker, will be held Sunday, 25 September, 7:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 5750 Shull Road in Huber Heights, Ohio. The Presentation is open to the public. This is not a book signing event but attendees will likely have the opportunity to meet the author after the Presentation at a simple reception.
AARP tax aide volunteers needed
HUBER HEIGHTS — If you like working with numbers and helping people, the AARP Tax Aide program may be a good fit for you. Volunteers prepare taxes at the Vandalia and Huber Heights Senior Centers and at the Harrison Township Government Building. Square dance lessons offered in Huber Heights
HUBER HEIGHTS — Double H Squares offer square dance lessons beginning Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Sulphur Grove United Methodist Church Activity Center, 7505 Taylorsville Rd. Fee $3 per person. Lessons are for ages 10 and up. Casual attire is suggested and no experience is necessary. The instructor for the lessons is Bob Jones. Heights Farmer’s Market to hold food drive
HUBER HEIGHTS – The Heights Farmer’s Market and the Fish Food Pantry will be holding a summer-long food drive beginning Saturday, June 11 through October 29.
This event for Fish Food Pantry of Huber Heights all proceeds go toward the Pantry. We will have this food drive all summer long. Please bring non perishable food items and or personal hygiene products to The Heights Farmers Market on Saturdays from 9am to 1 pm or during the weekdays there will be drop off box inside The Heights Cafe.

Interactive MathAlive! exhibit coming to museum

The free 5,000-square-foot exhibit, which is underwritten by Raytheon, will be open at the museum July 23-Oct. 2.
