Huber Heights City Wide Garage Sale

HUBER HEIGHTS — The City of Huber Heights hosts a Community Wide Garage Sale two times per year and the next one is slated for June 9-12, 2016! Each year, our Community Wide Garage Sale is held on the second Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of June and of October.

The city encourage residents to participate if they would like to sell their unwanted items.

There is a sign up sheet for the sale at City Hall. Registration and permits are not required for these sales. The sign up list will be distributed to shoppers in person and online who want to find the sales through out our City. Applicant name and phone number will not be published for privacy concerns.

HH Democratic Club to hold Picnic in the Park

HUBER HEIGHTS — Please join the Huber Heights Democratic Club for their annual Picnic in the Park on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, 5:30-8 p.m. at the Huber Heights Thomas Cloud Park, Shelter #4. The public and candidates are welcome. The Club will furnish hamburgers, hotdogs, brats, and soft drinks. Folk Dance Workshop slated

DAYTON – The Miami Valley Folk Dancers will hold an International Folk Dance Workshop at the Michael Solomon Pavilion, 2917 Berkley St., Dayton, Ohio on June 11-12, from 9:30-5:00 each day.

Master teacher, Roberto Bagnoli, from Rome, Italy will teach folk dances from northern and southern Europe as well as Israel and Turkey. Cost ranges from $14 per session to $65 for the entire week-end package which consists of four teaching sessions and a Saturday night dance party. No partner or prior experience is necessary. Huber Heights City Council to meet

HUBER HEIGHTS — The Huber Heights City Council has scheduled a regular session for Monday, June 13, 2016 at or about 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 6131 Taylorsville Road. The meeting is open to the public.

Charter Review Commission to hold meetings

HUBER HEIGHTS — The Huber Heights Charter Review Commission will hold regular meetings on Wednesday evenings in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 6131 Taylorsville Road. The meetings will be held weekly at 8 p.m. until the commission determines its work is complete. The meetings are open to the public.

Butler class of 1966 to hold reunion

Northmont Class of 1966 plans reunion

CLAYTON — The Planning Committee of the Northmont Class of 1966 is busy planning for their 50th class reunion the weekend of August 19, 2016. There are a number of missing classmates still needing to be reached. Library teen photo contest accepting entries

DAYTON — Area teens are invited to enter the Dayton Metro Library’s Teen Photo Contest, accepting entries now through July 30, 2016. Montgomery County teens in grades 7-12 can enter in one of four categories: Black & White, Color, Digitally Enhanced and Googly-Eyes. Cash prizes courtesy of the Friends of the Library will be awarded in each category: $100 first place, $75 second place, $50 third place.

“Entries will be judged on quality and creativity,” said Steve Moser, Teen Services Librarian. “Judges will select the finalists in each category, then the finalists will be posted on our website for popular vote.”

Canine Companions for Independence fundraiser

VANDALIA – Canine Companions for Independence is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained service dogs, free of charge. A fundraiser for the group presented by the Northmont Area Sales Network with the proceeds benefitting Canine Companions for Independence will be held Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Amvets Post 99 at 1023 S. Brown School Road in Vandalia. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. with auction beginning at 7 p.m. sharp. Admission is $2 with $1 for each additional paddle. Tokens will be sold in $5 and $10 bags with each token worth 25 cents.

Englewood Art Festival seeking artists, parade participants

ENGLEWOOD — Applications from artists and parade participants for the 43rd annual Englewood Art Festival, Saturday August 13, and Sunday August 14, 2016 are now being accepted by the Englewood Festival and Arts Commission.

The parade is a prelude to all of the festival events and will take place on Union Boulevard at 9 a.m. Saturday August 13.

Artists are asked to submit photos of their handmade original work for review by the Festival Exhibitors Committee. Applications are due June 1 and can be found on the Englewood city website at or by calling the Earl Heck Community Center at 937-836-5929.

Grief Ministry begins blog

HUBER HEIGHTS – The Grief Ministry at Sulphur Grove UMC would like to introduce the launching of our Grief blog. This blog is designed to inspire, comfort, and nurture those that are walking along the journey of grief. Through this technical avenue, this ministry will be able to minister to its congregation and the Huber Heights community at any time. The blog will provide its visitors with the opportunity to share their frustrations, pains, hurts and questions anonymously, plus, receive God sent responses from caring and loving people around the world. Kiser High School Almuni Meetings

HUBER HEIGHTS — Kiser High School alumni meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month (except November and December) at the American Legion Post 200 which is at 5046 Nebraska Avenue, Huber Heights. Meetings begin at 7 p.m. Graduates, attendees, and friends of Kiser High School ae welcome to attend. Please park at the rear of the building and use rear entrance.
