HUBER HEIGHTS — The Huber Heights Arts and Beautification Commission is proud to announce the first ever Huber’s Got Talent. It Is based loosely on the TV show “America’s Got Talent.” Auditions will be held on Saturday, July 11 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Wayne High School Performing Arts Center, located at 5400 Chambersburg Rd. in Huber Heights.
You must preregister and select a timeslot by July 10 in order to audition. There are two ways to preregister and select a time slot. You can go online at the city’s web site http://www.hhoh.org, or you can pick up an application at the city of Huber Heights Government Center located at 6131 Taylorsville Rd. in Huber Heights. When you turn in your completed application you will be given an opportunity to select a timeslot at that time.
The judges will select a number of acts from three categories to move on to compete in the finals. During the finals, the judges will choose one winner from each category along with a runner-up. The finals will be held at the Eichelberger Amphitheater on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 1 p.m. The finals will be open to the public.
There are three categories from which to choose from. They are: Comedy, Music, and Performance. One winner, with the highest score, from each category, will then perform at the Huber Heights Marigold Festival on Saturday, Sept. 12, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Eichelberger Amphitheater. Rules for Huber’s Got Talent are available online at the city’s website or at the Huber Heights Government Center.
The Huber Heights Arts and Beautification Commission has enlisted the help of David Thomas, Drama Club Director and this year’s musical Director of “Godspell,” from Huber Heights City Schools. He will act as the Producer/Director for Huber’s Got Talent.
“I am honored, thrilled, and excited about being a part of the Huber Heights Arts and Beautification Commission’s Huber’s Got Talent,” said Thomas. “We have a lot of talent in this area that needs to be showcased.”
