HUBER HEIGHTS — Free income tax return preparation service by VITA/AARP Certified Tax-Aid Volunteers will be available at the Huber Heights Senior Center beginning February 3, 2016. This free service is available for preparation of 2015 individual tax returns for low to moderate income taxpayers. Taxpayers do not need to be members of the senior center.
Certified volunteers will be available on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. by appointment only to prepare 2015 income tax returns. Beginning Jan. 5, residents may call the Huber Heights Senior Center at 937-233-9999 for an appointment. If you request a specific tax counselor, this may increase your waiting time. Taxes for farms or businesses will not be prepared.
Please bring the following documents with you: government issued ID, social security card, the prior year’s tax return, documents for ALL sources of income (i.e., wages, W2s, Misc Income, all 1099s, interest, dividends, stocks, social security, retirement, gambling winnings, etc.), and medical insurance card or other proof of medical coverage. If planning to itemize deductions, also bring expense information on things like medical, property taxes, mortgage interest and charitable contribution. Even if not itemizing, bring medical and property tax information. It is essential to bring a copy of your previous year’s tax return, photo ID, and social security card. For direct deposit of your refund, taxpayers should also bring a voided check to provide preprinted deposit information.
Weather Procedure: tax appointments will not be held when the Huber Heights Schools close for bad weather. Check the television (more than one channel) as late as 8:30 a.m. for school closure information that may have changed from a “delay” to “closing.” You will be contacted to reschedule your appointment.
