DAYTON — A Huber Heights man, Matthew Lopes Jr., 32, has being investigated related to four robberies. Clark County Sheriff’s detectives working with detectives from the Dayton Police Department were able to identify Matthew Lopes Jr. as the suspect in three earlier armed robberies in the city of Dayton and the Speedway gas station robbery in Clark County on Nov. 12.
Lopes will be held in the Montgomery County Jail until he can be arraigned on three counts of robbery in Montgomery County. Clark County Detectives will be filing a warrant for the arrest of Matthew Lopes Jr. charging him with Aggravated Robbery in connection to the reported armed robbery of the Speedway gas station on November 12th, 2015.
On Nov. 12 at 2:40 a.m., Lopes entered the Speedway gas station located at 1625 South Dayton-Lakeview Road and approached the store clerk indicating he had a gun inside a brown paper bag.
The suspect then placed the brown paper bag covering his purported gun against the clerks back and escorted the clerk to the cash register stating “Let’s go get the money.”
The clerk then walked to the cash register and complied with the suspect demands giving him an undetermined amount of money. The suspect then fled from the business on foot.
A follow up investigation into the reported robbery of the Speedway gas station, resulted in the arrest of Lopes, who is currently incarcerated in the Montgomery County Jail.
