Band and Warriorettes fundraiser

HUBER HEIGHTS — They are back — the driveway/cement Warrior Heads, that is! This is cut from the original stencil. The Wayne Marching Band and Warriorettes are actively fundraising for their Disney trip next March. With so many kids to get to Disney one of this year’s big fundraisers is the spray-painted Warrior Head on your driveway/cement at your business, the cost is $35.

The public response has been amazing and more orders are expected as the football season nears. To order your Warrior Head, please email Wayne Music Club at with your name, address and phone number and they will get you on their schedule.

Kiser Alumni Picnic set

DAYTON — The Kiser High School Alumni Association Annual Picnic will be held on Sept, 12 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, located at 2801 Old Troy Pike, Dayton (45404). Cost is $5 per person. Hotdogs, sausage, brats and soda will be furnished. Please bring covered dish to share and your dinnerware.

St. Matthew to host blood drive Aug. 15

HUBER HEIGHTS — St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Huber Heights will host a community blood drive Saturday, Aug. 15 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Fellowship Hall, 5566 Chambersburg Road with a splashy water bottle as the donor gift, plus a chance to win a deluxe Hawaii vacation for two in the “Get on Board” summer blood drive drawing that will end Aug. 28.

Everyone who registers to donate will receive a free “Catch the Wave – Donate Blood” screw top water bottle with straw; everyone age 18 and older will also be entered in the Community Blood Center (CBC) “Get on Board – Give Blood” summer blood drive drawing to win an all-expense-paid Hawaii vacation for two. Volleyball Fundraiser to be Held to Support American Heart Association

DAYTON — The Dayton PULSE young professionals committee of the American Heart Association is hosting a volleyball tournament “Volley for Heart,” to be held on Saturday, Aug. 15 at Setters Volleyball Club, 1008 Gateway Drive in Dayton (45405). Registration is 9 a.m. with the games beginning at 10 a.m. Local companies are encouraged to have their employees form teams and come out to promote cardiovascular health and wellness.

The round robin, co-ed sand volleyball tournament will consist of BB, B and C levels and will end with a seeded tournament. Registration is prior to the event is $55 per team and the day of the event the registration fee is $60 per team of four players, which must include two men and two women. Prizes will be awarded to all winning teams.
