DAYTON — Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr. announced September 14 that Mr. Michael Scarpelli has been appointed to the position of Assistant Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney.
Scarpelli received his law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2015. He received his undergrad degree from The Ohio State University in 2011, majoring in International Studies.
During the summer of 2013, while in law school, Scarpelli was an intern at The High Court of the Republic of Botswana in Gaborone, Botswana for the Honorable Justice David Newman, where he conducted legal research and observed courtroom proceedings.
Scarpelli is assigned to the Appellate Division of the Prosecutor’s Office. The Appellate Division is responsible for preparing and arguing all appeals of criminal and civil cases in which Montgomery County is a party. Attorneys in this division spend extensive time doing legal research, preparing written briefs, and arguing cases before the Second District Court of Appeals, Federal courts, and the Ohio Supreme Court.
Scarpelli is originally from Vandalia.
