HUBER HEIGHTS — Tiffany Norris is a spunky and sweet 10-year-old resident of Huber Heights. She made her entrance into this world two months prematurely, along with her twin brother, Tyler.
Due to numerous complications before and after birth, Tiffany suffers from spastic diplegia cerebral palsy (CP). Simply put, the portion of her brain responsible for muscle movements was permanently affected due to a lack of oxygen at birth. This condition is not contagious or degenerative but is something that Tiffany will live with for the rest of her life.
Miraculously, she has no cognitive or speech delays; however, she has fine and gross motor delays that produce challenges for her on a daily basis. She has made incredible strides throughout her ten years of life and has already overcome numerous obstacles that were once thought to be impossible. She has endured hundreds of doctor appointments, multiple surgeries, and thousands of hours of therapy to get to where she is today.
In spite of it all, she continues to live life with a smile on her face and huge dreams in her heart. She dreams of one day becoming a nurse, then a doctor and specializing in neurosurgery as well as becoming a mom.
How to help
One of Tiffany’s greatest desires in life is to be independent, not having to rely on others to accomplish tasks for her that most people her age do without giving it a second thought. In order to help her achieve this goal, we are asking the community to help make her dream come true by helping the family fundraise $15,000 to support the 4 Paws mission to qualify for a free Mobility Dog for Tiffany. It will cost 4 Paws over $22,000 to place a dog with Tiffany. 4 Paws for Ability, Inc., is a non-profit organization, and all donations are 100 percent tax deductible.
Once all funds are raised, Tiffany’s dog will be trained in tasks such as balance work (allowing her to walk alongside the dog without her crutches or walker), retrieval of items she drops or is unable to carry, turning lights on/off, opening house doors and pushing buttons to open doors in public, getting help for her when necessary, and wearing a backpack to help carry school and personal supplies.
If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation in Tiffany’s honor, please visit the 4 Paws Donation Page (http://www.4PawsForAbility.org/donate-now). Include Tiffany’s name in the “instructions to merchant” through PayPal. Donations can also be made by mailing a check with Tiffany’s name on the memo line to:
