COLUMBUS —The Wayne boys bowling team placed sixth overall in the Ohio High School Invitational State Kick-Off Tournament on Friday with team totals of 920, 1022 and 1063 for a 3005 and a two baker game total of 396 for a 3401 to qualify fifth for the finals.
Brandon Beck, a senior, placed fifth on the all-tournament team with a 693 series (193, 235, 265). Trevor Yost, a senior, had a 647 series (222, 197, 228) while Patrick Schwartz, a junior, contributed a 604 series (178, 231, 195). Also representing the Warriors were Noah Kunkle, Spencer Marksberry, and Nathaniel Payton.
On Dec. 2, the varsity boys team hosted Sidney at Poelking Marian Lanes and won 2314-2230. Wayne had a two game total of 1936 coupled with the baker games total of 378 for their first win of the season.
Swartz paced Wayne with a 417 series (191, 226) while Payton had a 403 series. Also representing Wayne were Beck, Kunkle, Marksberry and Yost.
The JV boys team fell to Sidney 1927-1468. Wayne had a two game total of 1164 and a baker games score of 304. Carmeran Bailey, a freshman, led the locals with a 325 series (149, 176) while sophomore Elijah Duggar had a 307 series.
Also representing the JV squad were Cody Corde, Spencer Marksberry, Ryan Thoma, Kyran Cowen and Hunter Weiss.
On Nov. 28, Wayne took fourth overall in the Ravenna Ravens Invitational in Kent with games of 1034, 1011 and 906 for a 295 and a five baker game total 1074 for a 4025 qualifying in third.
Schwartz paced Wayne with a 621 series (204, 216, 204) while Payton had a 619 series (228, 224, 167). Also representing Wayne were Beck, Kunkle, Marksberry and Yost.
