TROY — The Wayne Cross Country team concluded their season at the Regional Championships on Saturday at Troy. The Warriors had two individual runners who advanced to Regionals, senior Jared Wamsley and junior Jacob Miller.
The runners fell short of qualifying for the State meet. Wamsley finished 65th overall, in a time of 17:15 and Miller finished 83rd in a time of 17:27 in a highly competitive field of 130 runners.
“They were a little disappointed in their performance at this meet, but they should be proud of all they have accomplished this season,” said Coach Todd Anderson. “Jared has worked very hard for a long time and finished as one of the top runners in the area. Jacob had a great experience and is motivated to reach this level, maybe more, next year. This is the toughest region in the state, so just advancing to this level is quite an accomplishment.”
Miller said there are a lot of tough schools in the regional and the course was a bit of a slower course.
“I was pretty happy just to make it there,” said Miller. “I’m hoping to make it to state next year.”
