HUBER HEIGHTS — The Northmont girls soccer team shut-out host Wayne 1-0 Wednesday night to improve to 6-4-1 while Wayne dropped to 5-5-1.
Northmont scored the winning goal with 35:25 remaining in the first half when Brittany Weatherford scored her fourth goal of the season. Wayne Coach Vic Trapani said Wayne had trouble collecting the ball in the center of the field from 25 yards out and Weatherford scored from 18-yards.
Northmont took 12 shots on goal compared to eight shots for Wayne while Wayne goalie Ashley Flohre recorded 10 saves.
“The girls played hard,” said Trapani. “They played with intensity and energy. We made a few mistakes and they took advantage of one of them and found the back of the net. We just have to find a way to limit other teams opportunities and create our own so we can get on that ‘W’ side.”
Wayne travels to Tippecanoe at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
