Bob Batz - Senior Moments

Here are some responses from men and women who read my Senior Moments columns. .

* My neighbor knocked on my door at 2:30 a.m. this morning. Can you believe that? It was 2:30 a.m.? Luckily for him I was still up playing my bagpipes.

* I saw a poor old lady fall down today on the ice. At least I presume she was poor … she only had $1.20 in her purse.

* My girlfriend thinks I’m a stalker. Well, she’s not exactly my girlfriend, yet.

* I went for my routine physical checkup today and everything seemed to be going well until he told me to get undressed. Do you think I should change dentists?

* My husband has been missing a week now. Police said to prepare for the worst. So I have to go to the thrift shop to get all his clothes back.

And finally I would like to close this Senior Moments with a wonderful letter I received from reader Donn who lives in Cadiz, Ohio.

He wrote: “I wanted to comment about your column about the odd things people say.

“That column sent my mind back about 70 years to a phrase used by my father. He used it if he was starting a project or taking a trip to somewhere he’d never been.

The phrase was “Here we go for a brick wall or a billy goat.”

“Have you ever used that phrase? I asked Dad where he got it and he had no idea where he picked it up except he was sure he was quite young when he heard the phrase for the first time. He passed away in 1984.”
