Not sure if everyone has heard yet, but we will be inducting 19 new names into the Wayne Hall of Fame on July 25 here at Wayne High School. Please look for ticket information which includes the induction ceremony, guest speaker Arnie Jones and a great dinner served by some of our student athletes.

This has been a real journey to be involved with, but one that hopefully is very rewarding to the inductees, their families and most of all to the history of Wayne Athletics. We are constantly talking to our athletes about the responsibility they have to the Wayne Athletic Program and that they need to contribute to the history and success just like many of the inductees have done over the years.

This class is filled with some state champions, some all state honorees, along with our first multiple induction, a state champion relay team and some great contributors to Wayne Athletics over the years.

We do want everyone to know that there are many more qualified candidates out there that the committee will be looking at in the future. If you have already nominated a candidate, your nomination is still active and will continue to be active until the nominee becomes an inductee or until it is determined that they did not qualify. If they did not qualify, our hopes would be that the committee would send a letter to the person that made the nomination and to the nominee.

What we do need is if you have someone that you feel is deserving of being in the Hall of Fame, please fill out a nomination form in order to get them into the nominee pool. Very soon, we will have a list of nominees and inductees as well as the nominee sheet on our athletic website which is waynewarriorathletics.com. This will also list the new inductees that will be honored on July 25th.

We would like to thank so many people for keeping this thing going. I will mention a few. Anita Brock has logged in a lot of time and effort over the past few years and we really appreciate her efforts. The other two people that we would like to acknowledge is John Townsend and Selena Crace. Because the Huber Heights Athletic Foundation has stepped in and agreed to sponsor and administer this event, we will now be able to have our regular induction ceremonies and not have years where we have had to postpone it. Those two people are also on our committee and have already made a very positive impact.

Thanks to all of the committee members and support members that have hung on with us. July 25 will be a very special night here at Wayne High School. Go Warriors, keep the train rollin!
