This month, we are saying “good-bye” to three dedicated members of the Huber Heights City Schools Board of Education, Mrs. Anita Brock, Mr. Carl Fisher, and Mr. Josh Sullenberger. Board of Education members are the elected representatives of our community and as such make sure that our schools provide the best possible education to our community’s children.
Collectively, these individuals have served on the Board for many years and spent countless hours working with staff, students, and parents. Mr. Fisher did not run for re-election in 2013 but stepped in to fill the vacancy left on the Board when Mr. Ellis unexpectedly resigned in October 2014. Mr. Sullenberger has tendered his resignation from the Board, effective Dec. 31, 2015.
As strong advocates for students and their education, Mrs. Brock, Mr. Fisher, and Mr. Sullenberger faced many challenging and demanding issues. They worked tirelessly to help pass the bond issue for new schools in 2008 and to keep our community informed about the financial status of our district. As the link between our schools and our community, Mrs. Brock, Mr. Fisher, and Mr. Sullenberger spent many hours talking to and helping parents and others understand the various policies and procedures of our school district. Mrs. Brock was instrumental in assisting with the review and updating of the Huber Heights City Schools Board of Education Policy Manual. She also contributed to the development of our school district’s strategic plan, Children First 2020, Warrior Pride. As a long time supporter of our schools and a Wayne High School graduate, Mr. Fisher always made himself available to work with staff, students, and parents in order to improve our district. Mr. Sullenberger brought new ideas and a fresh perspective when he was elected to the Board in 2013.
On behalf of our school district, I would like to thank Mrs. Brock, Mr. Fisher, and Mr. Sullenberger for their many hours of service to our school district and our community’s children. Their hard work has helped make the Huber Heights City Schools a better place. In January, we will welcome two new members to the Huber Heights Board of Education, Mr. G. Michael Miller and Mrs. Krista Tipton. I look forward to working with both Mr. Miller and Mrs. Tipton and listening to their ideas about improving our schools.
