From the A.D.’s desk: recognition

Jay Minton - Wayne HS Athletics Director

Everyone loves to be recognized or at least most people love to be recognized. The last football game was a chance to recognize those that have already been inducted into the Wayne High School Athletic Hall of Fame. What a great time to see many of our inductees. There were 27 members that were able to come back and enjoy the festivities.

A great big thank you goes out to Tracey Cline and Selena Crace for organizing this massive event that seemed to run extremely smooth. Also, our Hall of Fame is well under way and will develop some consistency. This is due to the sponsorship of the Huber Heights Athletic Foundation. We can never thank them enough for their support not only in this venture, but many others in our school district.

We encourage any person that believes there is someone that is worthy of consideration into the Hall to fill out a nomination form as soon as you can. This will allow the committee to make sure that all who are worthy for the Hall will be up for nomination. I know that Tracey is working hard to make sure that the Hall of Fame information on our Wayne Warrior Athletic Website is updated which will include a nomination form. The next class to be inducted will be in 2017, but we encourage you to submit the nomination as soon as you can.

The other big recognition for this week is boys golfer Bryce Haney has qualified for the State Golf Championship Tournament. Bryce qualified by outlasting a golfer from LaSalle in a sudden death play-off that went six holes. Wow, I bet his proud parents, Amy and Jeff, along with his brother Braylen were extremely nervous and are excited for his competition this weekend.Bryce will compete Friday and Saturday in the State Tournament. Best of Luck to Bryce.

We also had a great showing by our Cross Country Team at the GWOC Tournament. Senior Jared Wamsley finished sixth in the Central Division which earned him a first Team All Division Honor. Best of Luck to the Team this week in Districts.

As you can see, RECOGNITION never ends, so take the time to recognize someone that has done something great. You will never regret giving recognition to others…GO WARRIORS!
