Cooking Caravan challenges teens at libraries

Staff Report

DAYTON — The Cooking Caravan is taking a battle of the chefs to all branches of the Dayton Metro Library this summer – and teens are invited to be the sous chefs and judges. The Caravan, based in Columbus, Ohio, offers programs about food and nutrition in a uniquely entertaining style.

“The Cooking Caravan is a group of chefs, artists, actors and musicians devoted to enriching health and feeding artistic hunger,” says John Croke, Artistic Director of the Caravan. “We are artists as well as educators and it is our performance-based approach that sets us apart and turns an event into an experience.” Other members of the Caravan are Chuck Johnson, John Skaggs and Mark Stursa.

In the Chef Battle, Caravan chefs square off in a culinary competition that features audience members as sous chefs and judges. The free programs are geared toward a teen audience. Schedule:
