NORFOLK, VA — Aerographer’s Mate 3rd Class Danielle Walton, a 2013 graduate of Bethel High School in Tipp City and Miami Valley Career Technical Center in Englewood, assigned to Fleet Weather Center (FWC), Norfolk, Virginia, was recognized by the Commander of Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Rear Adm. Rick Williamson, for her holiday season volunteer work and lead participation in the command’s Coalition of Sailors Against Destructive Decisions (CSADD) chapter and the command’s Junior Sailor’s Association (JSA).

“Having the opportunity to run an organization that helps build a sense of teamwork in the command has been so rewarding,” she said.

Walton, along with several other members of FWC and the command’s CSADD chapter and JSA, put up decorations to help raise the holiday spirit and bring joy and cheer to their fellow Sailors.

“Being personally recognized for our hard work by Rear Adm. Williamson is incredible,” Walton added.

Walton, who has been in the Navy for two years, is a native of Tipp City. Her mother and father, Michelle and Ronald White, reside in Tipp City.

The Coalition of Sailors against Destructive Decisions and the Junior Sailor’s Association was established to bond Fleet Weather Center Norfolk junior Sailors and to create a culture in which shipmate’s help shipmates maintain a course of success through good decision making. Along with this, we provide training material and the promotion of a good work environment for all Sailors to follow.

Your Navy protects and defends America on the world’s oceans. Navy ships, submarines, aircraft and, most importantly, tens of thousands of America’s finest young men and women are deployed around the world doing just that. They are there now. They will be there when we are sleeping tonight. They will be there every Saturday, Sunday and holiday this year. They are there around the clock, far from our shores, defending America at all times.
