Rike’s Wonderland Windows

The legendary Rike’s Wonderland Windows are one of downtown Dayton’s most popular experiences! Presented by the Victoria Theatre Association, the Rike’s Wonderland Windows are animated elves and animals who first appeared in NCR’s New York office windows in 1943. Many native Daytonians remember them from their annual holiday pilgrimage to the Rike’s Department Store which sat on the corner of Second and Main Streets (where the Schuster Center now sits) The Rike’s Wonderland Windows are on located in the Wintergarden of the Schuster Center, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 31, 2015, during regular business hours (9 a.m.- 6 p.m.) except during private events and Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Wintergarden Wonderland is an annual holiday gift to the community from Victoria Theatre Association. It is provided free of charge to the Dayton community.

Santa’s Secret

While visiting the Rike’s Wonderland Windows at the Schuster Center this season, be sure to participate in the “Santa’s Secret” contest. Santa and his magical team of crafty reindeer made a special stop at the Schuster Center to check in on the elves’ progress and leave a special “Santa’s Secret” for the children of Dayton to find! Families and friends can play detective and find the common object hidden in each window box. Once the object is found, children can fill out an entry form and drop it into the entry box. If the entry is correct, a name is drawn from other correct entries. The winner received a family four-pack of tickets for the rest of the 2015-2016 Morris Family Series season! The winner and object will be announced on the VTA Facebook page after Jan. 5, 2015.

Here’s a clue: The common object always relates to Dayton, Ohio! Children are encouraged to enter.

Stuffed Animal Drive

Bring a stuffed animal or to for the VTA Stuffed Animal Drive! Victoria Theatre Association is collecting stuffed animals for our community partners: Artemis Center, Daybreak, St. Vincent de Paul, and the YWCA, through Friday, Dec. 11.

Donation barrels are located at the Ludlow St. entrance of the Schuster Center as well as in the Wintergarden. There are also barrels located in the lobby of the Victoria Theatre.

All stuffed animal donations must be new with the tags attached. Used stuffed animals will not be accepted.

The Tike’s Shoppe
