Staff reports

DAYTON– United Rehabilitation Services’ (URS) 12th Annual URS Rubber Duck Regatta, presented by Synchrony Financial, will officially kickoff on Saturday, July 25th at 11 a.m. at the Kroger Austin Landing, 10101 Landing Way in Miamisburg. There will be photo opportunities with URS clients and the Regatta Mascot, Quackers the Duck.

At least 20,000 bright yellow rubber ducks will be dropped by crane from the Riverside Drive Bridge on Saturday, Sept. 19 in conjunction with the Taste of Miami Valley at RiverScape MetroPark for a controlled race to the finish for six coveted prizes. All proceeds from this event benefit vital programs and therapies for local children and adults with disabilities in our community. The Duck Sales Campaign will run from July 25 to Sept. 19.

This year’s Ambassadors are triplets, Zeva, Gage and Meah, who are happy, energetic three-year olds. Zeva has Cerebral Palsy and has benefited tremendously from the therapy services she receives at United Rehabilitation Services (URS). With intensive Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapies, Zeva has learned to sit, crawl, stand, and walk short distances with a walker. She also benefited from the specialized Feeding Therapy URS offers.

Prizes will be awarded to the top six finishing ducks in this year’s Regatta. The Grand Prize is a seven-bedroom Houseboat Vacation with ski boat from Norris Lake Houseboat Rentals, $1,000 gift card to Kroger, $1,000 gift card to Watsons, two Southwest Tickets, $500 to James Free Jewelers, and a 2-in-1 Detachable Laptop, courtesy of Computer Creations.

Ducks can be adopted for $5 each or a Quack Pack of six ducks for $25 (one duck free). Each Quack Pack also receives a free sub from Jersey Mike’s. There are three easy ways to adopt ducks: 1) Visit www.daytonducks.com, 2) Call 235-DUCK (3825) 3) Pick up an Adoption Form at Kroger Stores, Jersey Mikes Subs locations or URS’ Offices at 4710 Old Troy Pike at Needmore.

The URS Rubber Duck Regatta will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19 with a “Quacky Kid’s Parade” at 2:30 p.m. and the Big Drop of at least 20,000 ducks at 3 p.m.
