Wayne to host 49th Half Time USA
HUBER HEIGHTS — The Wayne Music Club will host the 49th annual Half Time USA Band Festival on Saturday, Sept. 10. Gates open at 5:30, the Alumni Band will be performing from 6:00-6:30, parade of bands will start at 6:30 and the festival will start at 7:00. We have a big show planned this year so come on out and enjoy an evening of fun!!!! Advance tickets can be purchased at Wayne Sporting Goods or at the Wayne High School Bursar’s Office.
City Council Ward 1 to hold community forum
HUBER HEIGHTS — Huber Heights Ward 1 City Council Member Richard Shaw is hosting a meeting and community forum on Tuesday, August 30 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Rip Rap Roadhouse, 6024 Rip Rap Road, in Huber Heights. HUBER HEIGHTS – The Huber Heights Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber Church Alliance are presenting Heroin – An Epidemic on Thursday, August 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at TJ Chumps, 7050 Executive Blvd. Admission is $12 which includes lunch. Heroin is at an epidemic in the State of Ohio and the nation. The Huber Heights Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber Church Alliance are presenting to all who wish to attend a public meeting to discuss the topic. We will have guest speakers who are experts in their fields present how to deal with the problem.
Keynote speakers will be Dr. Charles Russell, a licensed counselor, Amy O’Grady of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, and Huber Heights Police Officer Ed Savard.
Square dance lessons offered in Huber Heights
HUBER HEIGHTS — Double H Squares offer square dance lessons beginning Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Sulphur Grove United Methodist Church Activity Center, 7505 Taylorsville Rd. Fee $3 per person. Lessons are for ages 10 and up. Casual attire is suggested and no experience is necessary. The instructor for the lessons is Bob Jones. Heights Farmer’s Market to hold food drive
HUBER HEIGHTS – The Heights Farmer’s Market and the Fish Food Pantry will be holding a summer-long food drive beginning Saturday, June 11 through October 29.
This event for Fish Food Pantry of Huber Heights all proceeds go toward the Pantry. We will have this food drive all summer long. Please bring non perishable food items and or personal hygiene products to The Heights Farmers Market on Saturdays from 9am to 1 pm or during the weekdays there will be drop off box inside The Heights Cafe.

Interactive MathAlive! exhibit coming to museum
Looking to avoid the “summer slide” with your school-age children? Make plans to check out the MathAlive! exhibit, an interactive traveling exhibit opening next month at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. The free 5,000-square-foot exhibit, which is underwritten by Raytheon, will be open at the museum July 23-Oct. 2. Forty immersive activities create fun experiences that bring to life the real math behind the things kids love most – video games, sports, design, music, entertainment, space and robotics.
Celebrate National Aviation Day at museum
Celebrate National Aviation Day with free educational activities from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Aug. 20 at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. National Aviation Day is a celebration of all things related to aviation and is held on the anniversary of Orville Wright’s birthday (145 years ago on Aug. 19). During the event, museum visitors will learn about achievements in aviation and aerospace from the time of the Wright brothers’ first flight to modern Air Force technology.
