HUBER HEIGHTS — The Huber Heights Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Meeting and Awards luncheon on Thursday, January 28. The event was held at TJ Chumps Family Sports Restaurant.
Chamber President Melissa McGhee opened the meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance which was followed by an opening prayer by Pastor Maggie Gillespie of Faith Presbyterian Church.
Executive Director Mark Bruns then did a year in review followed by an awards presentation.
The Community Partnership Award went to Every Warrior Plays. This award is given to the Non-Profit organization that works closely with the Chamber and other civic groups for the betterment of our community. The organization must be in existence for at least two years and a member of the Chamber of Commerce for at least one year.
Winning the Ed Hart Memorial Award for 2015 was Dr. Donald Turner.
The Ed Hart Memorial Awards is named for Hart, a community leader and local businessman. Hart served our country and returned from military service to serve his local community. He was the founder of the Huber Heights Athletic Foundation which still exists today.
The foundation was created to help students and community organizations to thrive. This award is presented to an individual who has dedicated themselves to go above and beyond serving and volunteering not only their time and knowledge, but their unselfish dedication to our community.
The Huber Heights Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors consists of President Melissa McGhee, Vice President Todd Emery, Past President Steve Siegel, Treasurer Gary Swords, Secretary Erica Woods, and members Pam Whited, Linda Sommerville, Jack Schaadt, Jack Brankamp, Milt Kreitzer, and Ryan Rammel.
