Public Records Commission to meet
HUBER HEIGHTS — The Huber Heights Public Records Commission will meet on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 8:30 a.m. in the City Council conference room. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss public records retention and disposal schedules, city records storage areas and systems, email archiving system, and public records processing and related issues.

Knights of Columbus to hold Fellowship Dinner

Air Force Muesum building to open June 8
WRIGHT PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force’s new $40.8 million fourth building including aircraft such as SAM 26000 (Air Force One) and the only remaining XB-70 Valkyrie, will open to the public on June 8, 2016. The 224,000 square foot building, which was privately financed by the Air Force Museum Foundation, will house more than 70 aircraft, missiles, and space vehicles in four new galleries – Presidential, Research and Development, Space and Global Reach, along with three science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) Learning Nodes. St. Christopher Athletic Boosters fish fry/Monte Carlo
VANDALIA — A Fish Fry/Monte Carlo will be sponsored by the St. Christopher Athletic Boosters on Saturday January 23, 2016 from 6 – 11 p.m. Cost is $15 per person and includes all food and drinks. Women’s Business Association to meet
VANDALIA — The Polaris Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association will meet Wednesday, Jan. 13 at Christy’s Catering, 6488 Chambersburg Road in Huber Heights. Networking will begin at 6 p.m. and the program at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Jim Bolden and his topic will be domestic violence. The meeting is open to the public. Faith Women promote Project Linus
HUBER HEIGHTS — A group of women at Faith Presbyterian Church meets every Wednesday morning to work on Project Linus. This is an organization that provides handmade quilts and blankets to children in distress, whether due to illness, a trauma of some sort, or a natural disaster. The blankets are distributed through hospitals and other agencies by nurses, social workers, and others. Over four million blankets have been distributed through this wonderful mission.
Since this group began under the leadership of Cindi Adams, in 2014, they have donated 50 quilts and blankets. Everyone is welcome regardless of sewing skills. The meeting at Faith Church is every Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m..

Library offers teen fiction contest
DAYTON — Creative teens with a story to tell are encouraged to enter the Dayton Metro Library’s Teen Fiction Contest now through February 13, 2016. The contest is open to all area teens in grades 7 through 12. Teens can choose to enter Flash Fiction for stories of under 500 words, or General Fiction for stories up to 2,000 words maximum. Winners will be chosen in two age categories: Grades 7-8 and Grades 9-12.
First place wins $100, second place wins $75 and third place wins $50 in each category; cash prizes are provided by the Friends of the Library.
“There is so much creativity and imagination out there among our teens,” said Steve Moser, Teen Services Coordinator at the Library. “I can’t wait to see the stories they share with us.”
Submissions can be dropped off at any Dayton Metro Library location and must include a completed entry form, available at DaytonMetroLibrary.org/TEENS. Email submissions are accepted at smoser@DaytonMetroLibrary.org.

Kiser High School Almuni Meetings
HUBER HEIGHTS — Kiser High School alumni meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month (except November and December) at the American Legion Post 200 which is at 5046 Nebraska Avenue, Huber Heights. Meetings begin at 7 p.m. Graduates, attendees, and friends of Kiser High School ae welcome to attend. Please park at the rear of the building and use rear entrance.
