Firefighters raise $150,000 to fight breast cancer

HUBER HEIGHTS — Members of the Huber Heights Fire Division on Monday presented a check to the Pink Ribbon Girls for $150,000, thanks to the 2015 Huber Heights Fire Division Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign headed up by Huber Heights Firefighters Local 2926 to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer.

Heather Salazar, Executive Director of the Pink Ribbon Girls said this donation alone would provide 18,181 meals in Montgomery County and surrounding counties.

“The greatest part about this year is all of the departments that worked together — there were 30 fire departments — and that sense of community is what keeps Pink Ribbon Girls going,” said Salazar.

“This means the world to us as we have expanded into women’s reproductive and other cancers —we’ve just gotten more growth and more demand,” added Salazar.
