Project One Hope ‘Community Meal’ set

HUBER HEIGHTS — Project One Hope is a community outreach through the combined efforts of several churches in Huber Heights to provide free meals for individuals and families in need. First Christian Church of Huber Heights. located at 6114 Fishburg Road (next to Cottonwood Park), will serve a free Community Meal on Thursday, Dec. 10, between 5-6:30 p.m. Please come join us as our guest, for a warm meal in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

Christmas concert slated

FAIRBORN — The Fairborn Civic Band and the Fairborn Philharmonic Orchestra will host a Christmas Concert from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11 at at Abiding Christ Lutheran Church, located at 326 East Dayton Yellow Springs Road in Fairborn. The event is open to the public and there will be refreshments. Admission and parking is free.

Christmas Cantata slated

VANDALIA — Vandalia Baptist Temple will be presenting their Christmas Cantata, “Christmas in His Presence” on Friday, Dec. 11 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. and Sunday Dec. 13 at 10:30 a.m.

The event is free to the public, however on Saturday there will be a special offering taken for Shelby Mathes who is battling cancer and attends Troy High School. There will also be “Dinner on the Grounds” after the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service.

Toys for Tots

VANDALIA — Sibcy Cline Realtors in Vandalia is a drop off location for Toys for Tots. The hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. New unwrapped toys need to be there by Dec. 15 so they can get distributed.

Food For the Needy project

HUBER HEIGHTS — For new patients who donate 20 cans of food, Peltier Family Chiropractic is offering a consultation, exam, x-rays and a report of findings scheduled on a different day through December valued at $170. This is in addition to the 1381 pounds of food that was collected from patients on Food For the Needy Day on Nov. 14 when 1381 pounds of food was collected to be donated to the St. Peter Food Pantry. Among the sponsores of that event were Stean’n Shake, Sonic, T.G.I. Fridays, Skyline Chili, Danbarry Cinemas, Jiffy Lube, Kroger, Staples and Boston Stoker. Faith Women promote Project Linus

HUBER HEIGHTS — A group of women at Faith Presbyterian Church meet every Wednesday morning to work on Project Linus. This is an organization that provides handmade quilts and blankets to children in distress, whether due to illness, a trauma of some sort, or a natural disaster. The blankets are distributed through hospitals and other agencies by nurses, social workers, and others. Over four million blankets have been distributed through this wonderful mission.

Since this group began under the leadership of Cindi Adams, in 2014, they have donated 50 quilts and blankets. Everyone is welcome regardless of sewing skills.. The meeting at Faith Church is every Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m..
